IFR Rating

Learn to fly solely by reference to instruments for when you can't see the ground

Privileges Include:

  • Permits flying by instruments without visual references to the ground, horizon, and other landmarks

Prerequisites Include:

  • Must possess a valid Private Pilot License or higher

  • Current Category 1 or 3 medical

Course Requirements:

  • INRAT written exam completed prior to flight test.

  • 50 hours PIC Cross-Country

  • 40 hours instrument time, a maximum of 20 hours may be instrument ground time 

Duration:

  • Training is done at the student’s own pace

VFR Over the Top

Learn to fly in marginal weather conditions or high density radio communications. Great for aircraft owners looking to upgrade their Private Pilot License skills.

Privileges include:

  • Fly a Canadian registered single engine land aircraft with visual reference to a layer of cloud rather than the earth

Prerequisites Include:

  • Must hold a Private Pilot License

  • Category 1 or 3 medical

Course Requirements:

  • 15 hours instrument flight time (can include previous instrument flight time)

    • Up to 5 hours can be completed on a certified simulator​

  • No flight test or written test is required

Duration:

  • Training is done at the student’s own pace
